Prof. Dr. Youssef Shiban
Professor of Clinical Psychology with a focus on therapy research
Youssef Shiban studied psychology at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem from 1998 to 2003 and at Erlangen University from 2005 to 2008. He moved to the University of Würzburg to study for his doctorate, which he completed in 2013. In 2015, Shiban worked as an Academic Councilor at the University of Regensburg, where he also completed his university lecturing qualification thesis by the end of 2017.
His dissertation dealt with the treatment of anxiety disorders. During his habilitation, he researched methods of confrontation therapy to cope with anxiety disorders. The central research focus of Shiban is the use of virtual reality in the therapy of anxiety disorders. He is also involved in therapeutic work, in which he focuses on the treatment of trauma disorders, with a focus on war trauma in fugitives.
