Prof. Dr. Michael Gutmann
Professor of Health and Sports Psychology
Prof. Dr. Michael Gutmann, born in 1958, studied psychology at Bielefeld University from 1978 to 1983. He then worked as a research assistant at the Universities of Münster and Bielefeld, where he received his doctorate in 1988. After completing his doctorate, he initially worked at a contract research organization that provides scientific support for clinical studies by pharmaceutical manufacturers. Gutmann later co-founded e.factum GmbH, which is active in this field and also designs scientific information materials for the health care sector.
Gutmann, a former competitive athlete with experience in high jump competition, also works as a sports psychologist. He has been head psychologist of the German Athletics Association (DLV) since 2010 and also accompanied the German athletes at the 2012 Olympic Games in London as an officially accredited sports psychologist of the DOSB. He is also a sports psychologist at Eintracht Frankfurt's youth football centre and works as a freelance coach for individual athletes and sports associations from various sports.
