Prof. Dr. Helmut Roland

Born in Paderborn on 8 November, 1950. In 1971, he studied Business Administration at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg. In 1976, he graduated as a Diplom-Kaufmann. In 1999, he gained his doctorate, in the Department of Internal Auditing and Fiduciary Management at the University of Göttingen, on the subject of "the concept of the asset within the meaning of accounting standards under commercial and stock corporation law".
After initial posts in industry (Daimler-Benz AG), Helmut Roland switched to the insurance business (Gothaer) in 1981. In 1986, he was appointed to the Executive Board of Concordia, with responsibility for controlling, asset investments, information technology, organisation and law. In 1994, he became a member of the Group Executive Board of the TUI Group, with responsibility for finance, controlling, information technology, Human Resourcesl/Director of Labour and law. When TUI was taken over by the then Preussag AG, he set up on his own (management consultancy/interim executive).
In 2004, he founded, and became CEO of, FR Finance Relations AG (rating agency for SMEs), St. Gallen, as well as Academic Head of the Rating Academy in St. Gallen. In 2007, he was publicly appointed and sworn in, by Hanover Chamber of Commerce and Industry, as an expert in corporate rating. In 2008, he was appointed as an expert in real estate valuation and real estate rating as well as corporate value. Since 1999, he has been an honorary professor at the PFH Private University of Applied Sciences.
